| Linby Colliery Welfare are one of
Nottinghamshire's oldest clubs, plying their trade in the old Central Alliance in the
forty's and fifty's, they have also represented the District and Spartan and Notts
Alliance Leagues before joining the NSL in 2004. Their former pitch 'the Gatehouse Ground'
which once upon a time hosted FA Cup games (their most famous, a first round 1-4 defeat
against Gillingham in 1951) has long gone with the Colliery itself. The club now play at
the idyllic Church Lane Ground on the border of Linby Village. |
