A
LETTER FROM THE FORMER CHAIRMAN
Looking back on two years as
Chairman of the NSL, I'd like to thank all those who work so
tirelessly to make the league one of the best offerings out there
at this level. From players through to administrators, supporters,
tea ladies, kit men, coaches, physios, mums, dads and managers,
there are some really excellent, committed individuals working
long unpaid hours for the good of the local game.
In new Chairman Kevin Presland, we
have the right man to champion our push for Step 7. KP is one of
the best non league football men around and brings to the job a
wealth of knowledge and experience. One thing is for sure, KP is
not a man to mess around with, so clubs had better make sure they
keep their houses in order! Seriously though, KP will drive the
NSL forward and demand high standards from member clubs both on
and off the field and I very much look forward to working with him
and the rest of the terrific NSL Management Committee to further
improve the league we love
During my two years in charge there
have been many highs and one or two lows as well. Many people have
excelled and exceeded my expectations of them. There have also
been those who have fallen below my expectations and gone down in
my estimation as a result! The main thing is the good guys far
outnumber the others in the NSL which is why we are in such good
condition as KP takes over. Looking round at the AGM to see so
many friendly faces filled me with pride so thanks to you all for
making my time in charge a rewarding experience
In signing off though, it is with a
hint of sadness that I pay tribute to one of local football's real
gents in Alan Gilmour. Alan has stood down from his duties at
Magdala and will be sorely missed by us all. In all my
considerable time in the game, I have honestly never met a more
genuine, honest, sporting man so if you read this Alan,
thanks for everything you have done for the game and good luck for
the future!
Dick Durrant (precision training
NSL Vice-Chairman).
