WEEKEND
PREVIEW
Only
three Senior Division games this weekend with most of the
sides in League Cup second round action. Notts Police take on
Clifton at Bestwood Workshops. Bottom of the table Ruddington
Village, fresh from their win at the weekend host Linby at
Elms Park whilst mid table Wollaton take on Gedling Southbank
at WSA.
6.3.2010 Basford
United 3-3 Boots Athletic A draw doesn't help either
side too much in their bids for the title but an entertaining
game none the less at Greenwich Avenue gives both teams a
share of the spoils. Caribbean
Cavaliers 2-0 Bilborough Pelican A good game at Carrington
was won by a rejuvenated Cavs side that have now won their
last three league games. Tom Simpson scored after 25 with the
second coming five minutes after half time. Pelican's second successive
defeat is another dent in their fading title ambitions. Cotgrave
Welfare 1-1 Magdala Amateurs Two debutants featured today
for Cotgrave but it was an old tried and trusted name that
netted in the share of the spoils with the improving Magdala
Amateurs. Lee Penley's 133rd NSL Senior Division goal takes
his tally to 16 for the season. Rob Powell netting his second
of the campaign for the visitors Hucknall
Rolls Leisure 3-0 Linby CW This local derby was settled by
two goals from Ash Marshall and one for Chay Betteridge and
sees Hucknall move up to third with Linby without a win in
seven slipping nearer the relegation zone. Keyworth
United 1-3 Ruddington Village A first win in seven for
bottom of the table Ruddington over neighbours Keyworth gives
the Villagers some local bragging rights. Luke Foster, Lee
Sissons and an own goal helping the away side to all three
points. Bellis netting for the greens. Kimberley
MW 0-2 Clifton Leaders Clifton thanked two Mickey Evans
goals for another win en route to their first potential NSL
title. Evans brace has took his tally to twenty for the season
on what was a good day for the all whites with other results
also going there way. Wollaton
4-1 Notts Police
Wollaton inflicted the coppers sixth defeat in seven with a
comfortable win at WSA. Two goals for Carlton and one each for
Whatmore and Lambert helping Ian Lowe's team to victory.
2.3.2010
Hucknall
Rolls Leisure 2-1 Ruddington Village An Andy Start brace
helped Hucknall Rolls move above ground sharing tenants Boots
Athletic to fourth place in the table with this win over
bottom club Ruddington. Start scored his twentieth and
twenty-first goals of the campaign with Luke Foster replying
for the visitors.
27.2.2010
Attenborough
1-2 Magdala Amateurs In a game played at ROKO due to the
homesides pitch unplayable, relegation threatened Magdala
closed the gap on those above with a 2-1 win that keeps the
pressure on Boro as they themselves hope to avoid the drop.
Chris Wright and Aaron Baker scoring for Magdala with Steve
Oldham netting for Boro.
Bulwell
1-1 Clifton table toppers Clifton missed the chance to
extend their lead to seven points on the non playing Basford
but instead will have to settle for a five point lead at the
top following a 1-1 draw at Greenwich Avenue. Duane Haywood
continued his rise up the Senior Division scoring charts with
his 49th NSL league goal in little over one and a half
seasons. Michael Evans netting for the All Whites from the
penalty spot.
Caribbean
Cavaliers 2-1 Gedling Southbank the third meeting in four
weeks between these sides went in the favour of the home side
for the second succesive match as Cav's held out for a 2-1 win
over their recent rivals.
Hucknall
Rolls Leisure P-P Wollaton one of two games at Rolls Royce
Leisure to be called off on Friday afternoon. After taking a
fair bit of criticism for the conditions this season with both
Boots and Hucknall's first and reserve teams based at the
Watnall Road venue, the mudbath that is the main pitch has
been largely affected by the severe winter weather and two
teams playing their games on it all season.
Keyworth
United 6-2 Bilborough Pelican third placed Pelican were
two-nil down against their previously out of form hosts within
only seven minutes gone at Platt Lane with the scoreline made
worse five minutes after the interval. On 65 Matt Eastwood
capped a miserable day for the visitors by getting sent off
for dissent before a fourth on 75. Their was a slight comeback
on 80 and 82 when first Sadler, then Boulton pulled goals back
but the greens ended their four game losing streak in the
league emphatically as they added two more late goals in a
convincing 6-2 demolition of the champions.
Kimberley
MW 4-0 Boots Athletic An impressive performance from a
young Kimberley side against championship outsiders Boots has
done damage to 'the Chemists' title credentials and closed the
gap in Welfares bid to rise up the Senior Division table.
Goals from Lench, Fisher, Bertram & Carter giving George
Hulley & Ross West's side a superb win.
Notts
Police 3-3 Cotgrave Welfare form side Cotgrave might have been disappointed
with only a draw against a Notts Police side off the back of
five straight defeats. In the end it proved a good result for
the away side who clawed themselves back from 3-1 down to take
a share of the spoils. An entertaining six
goal thriller saw Collopy twice netting for the coppers with
Ady Carter also amongst the goals. Dom Lynas, Chris Frame and
Alan Royston all netting for Welfare.
Ruddington
Village P-P Basford United the game at Elms Park was
called off early Friday afternoon after an inspection
suggested that the pitch unplayable following a week and more
of wet weather.
