Formed in 1988 Calverton MW FC has over the years grown to become one of the county's biggest set ups. Currently boasting 18 teams from under eights and above the club also includes three girls sides. One of six local teams to have attained FA Standard Community Club status, in 2003 the club successfully applied for a grant from the Football Foundation enabling the go ahead for state of the art facilities which have helped the club move up the pyramid ladder. With the first team vastly improving since joining the Central Midlands League in 2006, the clubs Academy team joined the NSL in 2008, after a two year absence without the club, giving the league, once again an impressive representative from the old coal mining village.
