Formed from a work team at the local Ironworks in 1921. Originally as Stanton Football Club, the side, based on the outskirts of Ilkeston in Derbyshire has played in the MAA, Derby Senior League, Central Alliance and Midlands Regional League all before joining the Central Midlands League in 1991. After ten years in the CML, Stanton were forced to quit the league after losing their ground to Ilkeston Rugby Club in 2002, since then, Stanton Ilkeston have returned to their 'Stute' ground which they now share with the rugby union side, and after a few successful seasons in the Notts Amateur Alliance and one year in the CML, find themselves becoming founder members of the NSL Second Division.
