With links to the Colliery side that reached the second Qualifying round of the FA Cup in 1953/54, Bestwood MW's later history had been less impressive. After eight years in the old Notts Alliance First Division, promotion in 2003/04 gave Bestwood a chance to compete with the best the counties Amateur football had to offer, and after finishing 14th they were founder members of the NSL, where in the clubs debut season they reached the final of the Notts FA Intermediate Cup. Unfortunately after three respectable, mid to lower half seasons in the NSL, Bestwood disbanded in the summer of 2007.
